Really fun place. The popovers dipped in hot chocolate was great morning treat. My daughter got the fully loaded breakfast popover with eggs, bacon, and cheese and I was very jealous. It’s like the best egg McMuffin you’ve ever eaten.
Popovers is a cute little bakery/sandwich spot in downtown. I absolutely love their selection of sweet treats and coffees. The prices are reasonable, and you can easily spend under $10 on a to-go order. Some of my favorite desserts include the key lime pie and fruit tarts. During my most recent visit, I also discovered my newfound love for Chai Tea Lattes. I always look forward to future visits.
If you are looking for a cafe with great food, coffee, and pastries, Popovers is everything you could want. It is counter service but they bring your food to you. There is indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great casual place in the wonderful walkable city of Portsmouth NH.
Popovers was a great wedding vendor for us! They were recommended by our venue. We loved doing the to-go tasting box together and they were so thoughtful in helping us design a cake we loved. It was delicious and beautiful, I'd definitely recommend them.
Discovered this place during a day trip to Portsmouth and it is my new favorite lunch spot! I have Celiac and there were so many safe options for me. The ham and cheese quiche with clam chowder really hit the spot on a cold snowy day. The service was really fantastic as well and made me feel very cared for!
We were in town to see a show. Weren't sure where we were going to eat. Saw popovers and decided to go in. We were not disappointed as the food was amazing. The people were great and the atmosphere was pretty good. If you're in the downtown area of Portsmouth I would recommend giving it a try, I don't think you would be disappointed.
Cold wet mornings call for a warm pastry. I had never known about pop overs until my trip. It is better than the Elephantine coffee shop and bakery that has zero gluten free options with the only exception of hard granola. The prices are very reasonable for the portions. There were two of us. My companion had the gf quiche that comes with potatoes and a pop over. I ordered a gluten free pop over with maple butter. The best part of life is food and I am very happy I spent a moment of mine at Popovers On the Square on Congress St in New Hampshire.
So, this was not my first time going but I finally feel compelled to leave a review — this place is lovely and highly consistent. Both the food and the baked goods are superb and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is super cozy and the staff are incredibly friendly, seriously, I've never had a poor experience with them. 100% recommend this place, it's what I recommend to my friends and family.
Always a solid selection of coffee and matcha. *shout out the el diablo 10/10! pastries are so decadent you’ll want to keep coming back to try every single one! And to top it all off, staff is so kind!
This is the kind of place where you just KNOW everything on the menu is delicious! Best fruit tart I ever tasted with a nice touch of fruity jelly on the bottom. I picked the “pick two” option for lunch and was also blown away by the BLT and the Greek salad. The tiny popover (I think that’s what it was) was also surprisingly delicious especially with the sweet butter. My husband also enjoyed his burger. Would definitely recommend!
